Fun with 3D Printed Kit Cards

Last session of our 3D printing course, we were looking at kit cards—a flat, 3D-printable card where all the component parts of a model or tool are held together in a single, credit-card-sized plastic sheet, ready to be popped out and assembled.

We printed out some existing cards and had a go at assembling them—looking at how they were constructed, what worked, what made them tricky to put together, and the strength of the models at the end. With this in mind, our students will be designing their very own kit cards next session—and once printed, they will be able to see if they work! We are very excited to see and have a go at their creations. Watch this space!
